What We Are Up To Right Now

Today we read another version of the Three Billy Goats Gruff story and compared it with the previous one. Since the billy goats needed to cross a bridge to go up the hillside to a meadow of green grass and daisies, we decided to practice our fine motor skills with scissors and glue, and built colorful bridges (with no trolls underneath). Aren’t they beautiful? We also practiced math with the help of a dice and counting cubes.
It’s the week of the Three Billy Goats Gruff! Will they outsmart a mean troll? Let’s find out! We’ll read the first version of the book and create a collage of a troll. We will also add two new sounds to our sound book: EE as in sheep, and OR as in corn. Enjoy!
These times are just not good for bad witches. We read the third version of Hansel and Gretel today and we have to say, they are really smart and resourceful kids! We can’t say the same about the witches. We pulled out watercolors and scrap paper, and drew a half scary half funny portrait of the witch as a farewell.
Today we read a very different version of Hansel and Gretel – this one takes place in Africa and has a very mean witch in it. But don’t worry! We’ve helped Hansel and Gretel out by drawing up a map of the deep dark forest and plotting out a path for them to get from the witch’s house back home. We also practiced math and pattern recognition with counting cubes.
Mmm, gingerbread, yummy! Mmm, gingerbread house with a mean witch living in it – eeeek, yummy, but we’ll pass! Now what will Hansel and Gretel do? We’ll find out all about their adventures this week.
Ready for some glitter fun? Last time we drew a picture of a big bad wolf, and this time we decided to get all fancy and draw a glittery Little Red Riding Hood. We read the third book where she outsmarted the wolf, so she more than deserves her own sparkly picture. So pretty!
