Who would not like slime? It’s fun to make it, color it and then squeeze it, cut it, pour it, paint with it, measure it, pull it, etc. The limit is only your imagination – meaning in our classroom the uses are limitless.
This year we decided to follow three different recipes.
Slime
- 1 cup of glue
- 1 cup of water
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 1 tablespoon of saline solution (last thing to add)
Fluffy slime
- 1 cup of glue
- 1/2 cup of water
- 3 cups of shaving cream
- 1 teaspoon of baking soda
- 2 table spoons of saline solution (last thing to add)
Bouncy ball slime
- mix: 1 cup of warm water and 2 tablespoons of borax (adult only)
- 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and 4 tablespoons of glue
We tried all of these and then compared them. We tracked our observations on a board and then in our journals… and the results? The regular slime was fun but the fluffy one was 90% more popular (it always is). The bouncy balls were fun as well but I do not think we will make them again. The process was frustrating for the kids and they were bouncy only for a day. Maybe we will find some better recipe in the future… but for now I think we are sticking with our two slimes!
